The next Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program leader training is scheduled on December 09, 2011 from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm at the Tri-County YMCA in Osage Beach, MO. The training is free to leaders who commit to leading a class with in 3 months of the training, a second with in 12 months of the training and submit participant data.
The 2010-2011Intervention Map* provides a snapshot of programs provided in Central Missouri from July 1 to June 30. Using state and federal funding, CEMRAC partners with the University of Missouri Extension, local public health agencies, area agencies on aging and local volunteers to provide evidence-based programs. Our goal is to increase access to physical activity and self-management programs in every Missouri county. Please view the Arthritis Partnership page or contact CEMRAC if you or your organization is interested in helping us reach the 1.4 million Missourians with arthritis and related conditions.
*The number next to the symbol represents the number of classes offered in the county.
In 2005, more than 1.3 million people age 18 and older had Rheumatoid Arthritis. People with RA have been reported to experience more loss in function than people without arthritis in every domain of human activity including work, leisure, and social relations. The focus of treatment for arthritis is to control pain, minimize joint damage, and improve or maintain the function and quality of life. (CDC)
